I agree that smoking is something I am very glad is no longer socially acceptable. I used to turn green in meetings when everyone could smoke. Yuch. Many of us don’t realize how many other times a lighter would come in handy though.

I use them to light candles and on the ranch to burn the ends of ropes to keep them from unraveling. You can often get a ballpoint pen to work again by very briefly heating the point with a lighter. (Not too long though – most are plastic that is easily melted.)
